In 2015, Premier Mechanical was founded as an HVAC company for commercial clients in Boston. They started out servicing schools, hospitals, lab work, and offices. They expanded their versatility to service the hospitality industry, restaurants, and retail projects as they grew.
Initially, Premier partnered with Usherwood Office Technology to purchase a wide-format printing device to create HVAC mechanical drawings. After further collaboration with Senior Solutions Architect Chris Atwood, Premier was interested in another Usherwood offering: security and access control.
With a diverse set of clients including big names such as Gilette Stadium, the last thing they wanted to worry about was physical security at their Somerville headquarters.
“I lease this building, and we had a manual lock downstairs to get in the door. We didn’t really have any security in place for the building,” said Brian Serafin, Principal of Premier Mechanical. “We store a lot of equipment here, so I asked Chris if that was something he could work on as well.”
Chris presented his recommendations from Usherwood’s many security offerings. Brian settled on Verkada security cameras and a badge access control panel for the front entrance to the building.
Security was a top priority for Brian, as he wanted his staff to be safe and assets protected. Before he had to make trips back and forth downstairs to let people in manually, so he wanted to give secure access to those who needed it.
“We can make our own badges for people, it’s been life-changing,” Brian said.
Looking to the future, Brian is excited to continue finding solutions through Usherwood, so he can further optimize and grow his business.
“I think our office runs smoother,” he said. “Not only because of everything that has been implemented but for what Chris and Usherwood can do for us in the future.”
