Warwick Mall, located in Warwick, RI, needed a solution to an outdated fleet of signage kiosks located throughout the shopping center. Often buzzing with patrons and countless vendors, the mall needed a way to display a wayfinding and marketing solution to enhance the shopper experience.
Since 1970, Warwick Mall has been a staple of the local community. As a family-owned business, they enjoy serving their community and serving as a fixture in Warwick. Now, they are tasked with keeping pace with changes in technology and shopper expectations.
“It’s a fast-changing world, technology-wise, and marketing has changed,” said Domenic Schiavone, General Manager of Warwick Mall. He detailed the importance of using technology to keep up in the digital age.
“It’s not like the old days like 20 years ago when you posted a sale and sent out a print ad. Things change on the fly,” he said.
“When we were shopping around to update our platforms and technology, we wanted something that was flexible, responsive, and easy for customers to see and use,” Schiavone said.
His team wanted a display that was also easy on the back-end which ultimately drove the decision to go with digital displays from Usherwood. After initially partnering with Usherwood Office Technology as their copier provider, they began to look further into Usherwood’s digital signage offerings.
Usherwood Solutions Architect Mike LaPré recounted Warwick Mall’s journey to discover digital signage solutions. After the mall purchased a copier from Usherwood, the partnership developed, and Mike brought up the prospect of digital signage.
This led to a thorough Usherwood tech evaluation and a proposal based on Warwick Mall’s unique needs. After that, the team decided to purchase a fleet of three free standing digital kiosks to stand at entrances and two large drop-down displays for the food court.
The free-standing kiosk devices are as stunning as they are easy to customize. Customers can be seen walking up to these screens to find their way through the mall via a map of the mall on one side, while the other side displays ads about events, sales, and other goings-on at the mall.
“The most compelling aspect about our digital signage solutions are their simplicity,” said Usherwood Senior Project Engineer Mark Weigelt. “All you need to have at the install location is power and an internet connection. All the content and scheduling is managed in the cloud and linked to the Windows PC.”
Usherwood Office Technology’s Rhode Island office is located less than 10 minutes from Warwick Mall, and locality was a big factor in the partnership.
“Local is always big for us, so it’s important to put a face and a name to a business relationship, so that was a big plus. When we were demoing the product, we just took a quick ride up the street,” said Schiavone. “It’s always good to know you have someone nearby.”
