Every business runs into having to get their equipment replaced or updated. Technology can quickly grow outdated, and sometimes equipment runs its course, spurring the need for a replacement. Print and IT equipment should be refreshed routinely on a three-to-five-year cycle, depending on part availability, warranty coverage, and support.

I want to roll back the title of Ask the Expert because I don’t believe anyone can be an expert in family business. It is one of the most complicated relationships, yet family businesses are the backbone of this country. All I can do is share a few tips on how our family makes it work, hoping to give you some ideas to bring to your family business. When you see family business tips, it is always about sound financial planning and estate planning. These tasks need to be accomplished because, without them, you can’t think about the future with a clear lens. However, they do not necessarily promote happiness or stable growth within your family business.

Northwood is a boarding school located in Lake Placid, NY. The school includes grades 9-12, plus a post-graduate year, and offers competitive academic and athletic programs. There are about 190 students from all around the United States (and the world) that attend and about 85% of them live on campus. Northwood is a very well-rounded educational institution, that helps students gain the knowledge necessary to sculpt them for future success.

To celebrate International Women in STEM Day tomorrow, we interviewed some of the women from Usherwood Office Technology that help demonstrate the importance of having women in positions that are normally male-dominated. This includes Lindsay Usherwood, General Counsel; Meriah Maneri, Odyssey Security Analyst; Marguerite Dillon, Videographer; and Lauren Usherwood, Business Development Executive. Hear them share what empowers them each day in their positions, as well as what challenges they face working as women in STEM.

We are pleased to announce Lisa Sattora as our Accounts Receivable Specialist. In her position, Lisa will be responsible for processing incoming cash, provide invoices and account reconciliations to clients, and will work directly with the contracts team to ensure accurate billing for accounts.

We are pleased to announce Jan Frodelius as our Shipping and Receiving Clerk. In his position, Jan will be responsible for receiving shipments, cataloguing new inventory, readying inventory for the setup-technicians and shipping parcels to customers.

Usherwood Office Technology is excited to announce an expansion to their Syracuse Headquarters. Usherwood, an office technology solutions and managed IT services provider, has been located at 1005 West Fayette Street in the heart of downtown Syracuse since 1993.

We are pleased to announce that Matt Sova has accepted a new position as Pricing Analyst. In his position, Matt will be responsible for developing and maintaining the internal price books, working with our vendors on special pricing for large opportunities and performing analytics on the profitability of our pricing and promotions.
